December 23rd Status Update
This is the first post to the blog and a quick update of the status of Mckoi. It also gives me an opportunity to test the content management system to make sure everything is working as expected on the live server.
Christmas is just around the corner and I've been busy finalizing the Mckoi Data API and finishing off the last bit of functionality I want to get into the distributed version of Mckoi database for the first release. I still plan to have released the new Mckoi code before the new year. There is work needed to be done to the documentation and the website still, so I will be very busy, but I expect to have it ready.
I'm very excited by the principles behind the new Mckoi, and the direction the software industry in general is taking at the moment. Companies are now seriously reevaluating every part of their software infrastructure stack from pressure to make end user software scale to utilize networked hardware. Existing data storage software is too complex and impractical to maintain on large scale clustered infrastructure. I see a potential place for our software in an exciting new area and I hope Mckoi finds its way into the toolbox of distributed systems developers everywhere.
Toby.
